New Digital Catapult open funding call for creative industries

Digital Catapult NI is to host a briefing session on 10 October in partnership with Immersive Tech NI to provide information about CreativeXR a new funding stream for the creative industries.

CreativeXR is a three month programme which will work with the best creative teams, from across the UK, to help develop concepts and prototypes of immersive content by offering access to finance, facilities, industry leaders and commissioning bodies.

The event supported by the Department for the Economy will take place in The Mac from 6pm to 10pm.  It will include a range of talks and demos from those involved in the NI Immersive Technology sector including:

  • BBC Rewind will share their thinking around how they plan to use the BBC sound archive with intelligent personal assistants - devices such as Alexa
  • Enter Yes will tell the story behind 'Beyond Hirieth', their exciting Sci-Fi shooter style game with an emotionally driven narrative available for VR and mobile platforms
  • Retinize will explain how you film a world title winning boxer in 360 degrees while he attempts to punch the camera, with their 'Fight Game' Carl Frampton, VR experience

The first phase of Creative XR will see 20 recipients awarded prizes of £20k each. Followed by a showcase held in London in March 2018 where the top ten winners will be announced and given the opportunity to pitch for further development funding.
