Minister for the Economy Diane Dodds has outlined her priorities.
"I am excited to take over as Northern Ireland’s Economy Minister and am very much looking forward to, what I expect to be, a hugely challenging yet highly rewarding role building our economy and making it competitive across the globe.
"I am determined to put all my energy into promoting innovation in business, attracting foreign investment and creating jobs across all parts of our economy.
"I want to focus on skills and education so we can support tens of thousands of people prepare for working life through university, further education, apprenticeships, assured skills academies and careers guidance.
"I will work hard to see that consumers and the ordinary working person are best protected and I am looking forward to seeing over 97,000 homes and business across the region access better broadband services.
"As we move into a new decade, this Department will remain at the very forefront on moving us towards net-zero carbon emissions and we will capitalise on our growing reputation globally to bring more tourists to our shores.
"And, of course, I will play a central and crucial role in defining, promoting and protecting our economic interests as the UK leaves the European Union."
