The policy primary objective is to mitigate disruption to teaching and learning and to the delivery of assessments so that, as far as possible, learners taking VQs can still receive fair and timely awards to enable onwards progression on their chosen pathways. It remains imperative that the award of VQs provides a valid and reliable indication of knowledge, understanding, skills and practical competence, and that quality standards are maintained to protect the integrity and portability of the qualifications.
